The Gospel of Your Salvation

When the apostle Paul and his fellow missionary Silas were imprisoned for preaching the gospel in the city of Philippi, God intervened by sending an earthquake and freeing them from their bonds. In the confusion that followed, the jailer cried out, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" Paul and Silas answered with the now familiar words, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16:31).

What exactly must we believe about out Jesus Christ in order to be saved? The answer is found in 1 Corinthians 15:3,4, "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures." When we trust in Christ's perfect, finished work on the cross on our behalf, God saves us and gives us His perfect righteousness: "For He (God) hath made Him (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). Believe on Christ and you will be saved - it is as sure as the Word of God!
